Arian D. EVANS, daugher of John & Eliz. Powell was born in Bath Co KY March 11, 1836 and removed to Montgomery County in the winter of 1840-41; she was married in Parkersburg to Wm. B. Evans July 11, 1851 and removed to the neighborhood of New Ross in 1852. She became the mother of 5 children; Thomas E; Wm E; and Elizabeth Stipes who survive and Cornelius & Parthenia who died in infancy. Her husband died May 10, 1896. She united with the Christian Church at Providence under the ministry of Oliver B. Wilson in the Spring of 1855 and afterwards on July 4, 1891 transferring membership to the church at New Ross. Without early advantages she developed sterling qualities of character and met the cares & viccissitudes of life with a meek and submissive spirit. Love for and devotion to her family became controlling elements in her life and she sincerely desired to have all persons become converts to the christian religion. Bidding adieu to her family, numerous relatives and friends she passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Elizabeth Stipes at 1:30 p..m. March 21, 1904 age 68 years 10 days. The funeral was held at the Christian Church in New Ross 10 o'clock Wednesday with discourse by Rev SE Murry of Irvington. Interment in Pisgah Cemetery. - kbz
